General Information

The 29th Session of the EFC Working Party on the Management of Mountain Watersheds will be held in Montgenèvre, a village close to the town of Briançon, in the Departement of Hautes-Alpes.

The 29th Session of the EFC Working Party on the Management of Mountain Watersheds will be held in Montgenèvre, a village  close to the town of Briançon, in the Departement of Hautes-Alpes.

This family friendly ski resort is located at  an altitude of 1860 m,  about 15 kilometers  from the Italian border. It is linked to the “Via Lattea” ski area, which has an enviable 400 km of ski tracks. The 2006 winter Olympics of Turin took place in this skiing  area.
During the summer, this resort can be the “hub” for hiking, mountain biking, golf (18 holes),...

Several options are available to get to the venue of the session ::

  • By air : From the airport of Turin it takes 75 minutes by car or bus (110 km), 2 hours from the airports of Lyon and Grenoble, and 2 1/2 hours from the airports of Geneva and Milan.

  • By train : There is a TGV train station in Oulx, on the Italian border, only 16 km away from Montgenèvre. Direct trains (TGV) run from Paris to Oulx in 4h30, and also from Milan (2h20) or from Turin (1h). Taxis or local buses are available from Oulx to Montgenèvre. The train station (SNCF) of Briançon, is at a distance of 12 km. Regular trains from Marseille and Paris stop there.

  • By car : Montgenèvre is a 30-minute drive away from the Fréjus tunnel between France and Italy, after leaving the A43 motorway, from Lyon. Montgenèvre is 130 km from Grenoble.

Transfer facilities

On Monday 2nd September, 2013, the organizers will provide a free shuttle bus from Turin Airport, and  from Oulx TGV  train station , to transport participants directly to the Hotel Anova in Montgenèvre,

At the close of the session, and depending on demand, similar facilities will be put in place early on the morning of Friday 6th September, 2013.

Accommodation

Reservation for accomodation has to be made by each participant.

For the duration of the 29th session, we offer participants the chance to stay at the same location: The Hotel Anova. It is situated some 200 metres from the Conference Hall.
In order to receive priority treatment for the reservations and the benefit from a special tariff,for full board (drinks not included), each participant should make it clear  that he will be participating in the 29th Session of the EFC Working Party, by specifying the code : WP FAO 2013.

Special events

  • A guided tour of the fortified City of Briançon (Classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO) is planned for Tuesday 3rd September, 2013, late afternoon.
    Participants may register on the "Registration form".
  • A "Banquet" will be organized in Montgenèvre on Wednesday 4th September, 2013. Participants must indicate their intention to be at the Banquet when they register for the Seminar.
