Meteorological sites

The data acquired to date make it possible to describe current local climatic conditions and to detect possible changes over time.

Automated weather stations were set up on 26 Renecofor sites starting in 1994. The weather stations are located in open areas (clearings or prairielands) as close as possible to the corresponding Network monitoring site in the forest.

After 2008, due to budget restrictions and following an audit of the Network, only 14 weather sites were retained.

Each site has an identity code based on:

• the main species represented at the site
• the French administrative area ("département") where the site is located.

For example, on the map below, site PM 72 is the Maritime Pine site in administrative area N° 72 (la Sarthe).
